Fitlings are interactive online pets. By using health points, your child can take care his/her Fitling as it grows from a small egg into adulthood. The Fitling Network promotes healthy values from a young age as children learn how to take care of their Fitlings. Furthermore, especially successful children will have the opportunity to win real life rewards.
What is Fitlings?
While going on the computer is a required part of Fitlings, the design of the game is tailored in such a way that children do not need to spend excessive amounts of time online, and encourages them to spend their time gaining points in the pedometer. Children can spend as little as five minutes on the Fitling Network per month.
Is my child going to spend too much time on the computer?
Will Fitlings keep my child from his/her education?
Not at all. By using the parental controls on the Fitling Network, your child's Fitling can enter sleep mode at specific times of the day. The pedometer will continue to count steps however which means your child will still be rewarded for keeping an active lifestyle.
How do Fitlings keep my child active?
The Fitling Network takes advantage of an advanced psychological concept known as Gamification. By adding competitive and gaming attributes to everyday tasks, there will be much more incentive to participate. This concept is already being used by the industry such as reward miles and frequent flyer points.
Will I be able to track my child's progress?
It is required when registering an account on Fitlings that the parents email be submitted to the network. The wide variety of options can be seen in Parental Involvement.
What kind of rewards do I get from Fitling?
In keeping with the theme of health, rewards for keeping a happy Fitling include coupons for organic produce, sports equipment and healthy snacks. Rewards earned by your child will be sent directly to the parents email to be redeemed.
How do Fitlings promote a healthy lifestyle?
Children at a young age pick up habits that can carry on for a lifetime. Fitlings act as a child's role model in that the best Fitlings keep to a good diet, exercise and avoid junkfood.
What is the online social aspect of Fitlings? Is my child safe online?
Your child is completely safe in the world of Fitlings. While Fitlings uses an online system of friends to create an environment of friendly competition, adding friends requires that both pedometers come into contact with each other, therefore guaranteeing that your child will only add friends he/she has met in person.
Will my child be forced to go on the Fitling Network?
While we aim to give your child the most freedom when using Fitlings, Visiting the Fitling Network will be required to evolve your Fitling. Also the pedometer must be plugged in every 30 days in order for the battery to be charged and or the recorded steps to be uploaded
Do I have to pay a subscription for Fitling?
In order to access real-life rewards, a subscription fee of $10 a year is required. Purchase of a Petometer already gives access for the first year.
What are Fitling points?
Fitling points are the incentive for children to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Exercise and activities recorded by the Petometer are converted to Fitling points.
What if my child can't be active enough for Fitlings?
Fitlings works under a system which personalizes the athletic level of each child. While your child may not be beating his peers online, he/she will be rewarded for improvements.
